INTRODUCTION

Lynn Kidd started his collegiate career at Clemson before transferring to Virginia Tech. He entered the rotations and began to get playing time during his junior year, then as a senior, he became part of the starting five for the Hokies alongside Sean Pedulla and Hunter Cattoor. He concluded his collegiate career with the Hurricanes, where despite his team’s lackluster season, he managed to finish as the top rebounder and the second-leading scorer, recording 6 double-doubles during the season.

PHYSICAL

Lynn Kidd possesses the prototypical size for a modern center. His strong frame and solid build allow him to hold his ground in the paint, while his mobility enables effective rim runs and defensive rotations. He moves well on the court, despite having average athleticism. Though not an elite leaper, his physicality and endurance make him a reliable presence on both ends of the court. Continued development in lateral quickness and explosiveness would enhance his ability to play against more agile opponents, especially in defensive situations. Overall, he has the right tools for a good level in Europe, while lacking the necessary athleticism to impact the NBA or G-League.

OFFENSIVE PHASE

Lynn Kidd is an inside player with excellent finishing ability. His offensive game is characterized by efficiency and smart shot selection, always shooting over 66% from 2-P in the last three seasons. He excels in pick-and-roll situations, often finishing plays with high-percentage shots near the rim. His field goal percentage reflects his proficiency in converting close-range opportunities, even with cuts and from the post. Thanks to his combination of mobility and good footwork, he manages to create space for himself, often focusing on attacking from the post on the right side of the court. While not a perimeter threat, his mid-range jumper indicates a reliable touch that can be developed. Kidd also demonstrates good court vision for a big man, averaging 1.4 assists per game, often finding open teammates from the post or being utilized in short roll situations. However, expanding his offensive repertoire to include more mid-range attempts or perimeter shooting could make him a more versatile scoring option. An improvement in his handling would help to limit turnovers (1.3 per game) when facing a double team.

DEFENSIVE PHASE

Lynn Kidd is a solid interior presence; although he does not have great rim-protecting abilities, he can use his body for contact. His rebounding is a notable strength; he is solid at boxing out and possesses a good sense of positioning that benefits him. While his lateral movement is adequate, improving his agility would enhance his capability to switch onto smaller, quicker players. Generally, he is not always able to switch on the perimeter, which can lead to problems with foul management. Overall, he is a very reliable defender in the post and in static situations where he can use his strength and size.

IMPROVED AREAS

Lynn Kidd should work on expanding his offensive skill set beyond the paint. Developing a reliable mid-range jumper and gaining confidence in short face-up situations would make him a more versatile threat. Improving his ball-handling under pressure is also crucial to limit turnovers when doubled. On defense, enhancing his lateral quickness and agility is necessary to better handle switches and avoid foul trouble. Additionally, becoming more assertive as a rim protector would add value to his defensive presence. With these adjustments, Kidd has the potential to be a solid contributor at the European level. Overall, for his rookie year, he can guarantee a solid impact in a mid-level league.
