INTRODUCTION
Sean Pedulla, boasting about feeling Irish, “I’m 75% Irish, 25% Italian,” has Italian roots on his father’s side, which could place him on a list of potential players for naturalization. His first year with the Hokies jersey saw him contribute to the surprising ACC title won by his team. He played 18 minutes in the semifinals against the future NCAA champions North Carolina and 6 minutes in the final against Duke, but notably scored 13 points in 15 minutes against Notre Dame in the quarterfinals. Despite coming off the bench, he consistently provided reliable support as a back-up. A reliable point guard, he reads pick and roll situations well and showcased a hot shooting hand from beyond the arc. Just ask Florida State, who fell to his 6/7 shooting from deep. In his second year, he should remain the back-up point guard, and with the big transfer Grant Basile, Virginia Tech will have a bit more Italy added to their roster.
EDIT (September 2024): Sean Pedulla, after three high-level seasons with Virginia Tech and a selection to the Third-Team ACC, has transferred to Ole Miss. His undeniable qualities were identified early on, as he finished with an average of over 16 points and 4.6 assists per game, confirming his potential.
