POTENTIAL
INTRODUCTION
Jordan King began his NCAA career at Siena, where he received a Third Team All-MAAC mention before transferring to East Tennessee State. In his two seasons with the Buccaneers, he was twice named to the All-SoCon Third Team, averaging 15 ppg and 3 assists. In his graduate year, he moved to the Spiders and, alongside teammate Neal Quinn, led them to their first-ever Atlantic-10 regular-season title
PHYSICAL
Jordan King is not very big-size but he is very fast, responsive, and always has active hands. He has good body control and coordination, a combination that allows him to avoid physical contact with opponents and create space for taking a shot. Mobile and dynamic with good athleticism that compensates for limited physical strength. In the last two seasons, he has played 36 minutes per game, demonstrating a certain level of stamina
OFFENSIVE PHASE
Jordan King is a handler with significant scoring abilities (19 ppg in his graduate season). With his speed, he can beat the opponent 1v1 with his first step and create an advantage or find space to take a shot from the dribble. He is not afraid to attack the rim but uses it less frequently due to physical reasons. His three-point shooting has seen significant improvement (from 31.5% at ETSU to 42.8% with the Spiders with 6.2 attempts per game), but it’s important to emphasize Neal Quinn’s facilitator ability, which allows King to shoot with more space coming off screens or as a spot-up shooter. He has displayed good clutch-player qualities with decisive buckets, but he doesn’t appear to have the right leadership and vocal capabilities to lead his teammates. He has a good assist/turnover ratio (+1.53), but his performance improved in Richmond when he had more off-the-ball space than as a creator of offensive set-plays
DEFENSIVE PHASE
Jordan King is able to apply strong pressure on the direct opponent, is very reactive with his hands, and has good lateral mobility. He is quite disciplined, does not take too many risks on passing lanes (1.3 steals per match) and his reactivity and good sense of positioning make him useful on long rebounds (4 per game) which he can transform into quick coast-to-coast plays. In mismatch situations, he struggles against stronger players, and the closer he gets to the rim, he becomes a target to attack for opponents
IMPROVED AREAS
Jordan King has a good margin for improvement in leadership and playmaking skills, and must confirm his abilities in shooting from beyond the three-point line. In the defensive phase and in terms of physical aspects, he can try to sculpt his body better without losing the quickness that gives him a great advantage over opponents. Overall, he is a player capable of immediately ensuring good scoring figures at a medium level in Europe
