INTRODUCTION
With the end of Grant Golden‘s college career, the Spiders needed a new reference point with delicate hands and a playmaker’s vision. His nearly 4 assists per game over the past two years led to the choice of the former center from Lafayette. He has an imposing physique, some good moves when approaching the basket, but limited mobility and a not-so-extensive shooting range raise some concerns despite his exceptional reading abilities, especially from the high post where he can reward cuts or execute side reversals with enviable timing. Defensively, he struggles to step out against guards, and his effectiveness increases near the rim where he intimidates (1.4 blocks last season) and grabs some rebounds, although he doesn’t guarantee a dominant presence. He certainly lacks the hype of his predecessor in Richmond, but he possesses the skills to build a solid career in Europe, even if modern basketball makes such players increasingly complex to fit into their rosters.
