INTRODUCTION
Robin Duncan spent his entire five-year collegiate career at Vermont, where he became a consistent presence in a program that won the America East Conference title three times during his tenure. Despite the team’s domestic success, he never advanced past the first round of the NCAA Tournament. In 2023, he was recognized for his impact by earning a spot on the America East All-Conference Team as well as the All-Defensive Team.
PHYSICAL
Robin Duncan is a solid athlete with an adequate wingspan and good foot mobility, allowing him to hold his own against quicker perimeter players. He is very reactive, reads situations well, and shows strong positional awareness, which, combined with decent elevation, enables him to be a consistent presence on the glass. While he does not possess significant upper-body strength, he absorbs contact reasonably well and does not hesitate to operate in traffic. Overall, his physical profile is built more on mobility, anticipation, and activity than on raw power.
OFFENSIVE PHASE
Robin Duncan is a highly versatile piece capable of covering multiple roles. He shows strong playmaking instincts, averaging 4.4 assists per game, and has enough ball-handling ability to initiate offensive sets or attack the basket off the dribble. When defended by smaller guards, he is comfortable going to the low post, especially on the right block, where he can score or find a well-positioned teammate. He is effective both as a pick-and-roll ball-handler and as a screener, where he is particularly productive in short-roll situations. Off the ball, he moves well and shows good timing on cuts to the rim. His clear limitation is shooting: he finished his collegiate career shooting just 20.4% from 3-P range, and his free-throw percentages are also well below average (47.2% in his final season).
DEFENSIVE PHASE
Defensively, Robin Duncan mirrors his offensive versatility, being deployable against a wide range of matchups. His lateral mobility allows him to contain perimeter players, and when physical tools are not enough, he compensates with anticipation and awareness, drawing charges or forcing turnovers. In mismatch situations, he looks to deny early and is willing to dive on the floor to contest possessions. He is an active rebounder (7.2 per game) and is capable of pushing the ball coast to coast after securing the ball. His defensive value is rooted in effort, versatility, and game intelligence rather than pure size or strength.
IMPROVED AREAS
Despite possessing strong intangibles, Robin Duncan’s shooting limitations risk capping his professional upside. The low percentages from three-point range and at the free-throw line are potential red flags for many clubs. That said, he remains a player who can provide multiple useful contributions within a team context. If relieved of primary scoring responsibilities, he could be a valuable complementary piece, although his most realistic projection appears to be in a medium-to-lower level European league rather than at the top tiers.
