Rookie Guard Radar: 5 Names to Follow in Europe

This radar is a quick look at five rookie guards starting their professional path in different European contexts.

They are not presented as a universal shortlist, but as profiles worth monitoring for their role, production, tools and possible translation over the season.

For clubs, the real work is more specific: understanding which profiles actually fit one roster, one budget, one playing style and one recruitment need.

Jacari White | 6’3 – 191 cm | Antwerp Giants | Shooting guard

Fit: Shooting guard who can provide immediate floor spacing, perimeter scoring, and off-ball value in structured offensive systems.

Perimeter-oriented scorer with strong shooting consistency across levels (39.8% 3PT at NDSU; 43.4% 3PT at Virginia). Thrives as a catch-and-shoot threat and floor spacer, producing scoring without high usage, while offering limited playmaking value.

Strengths: Perimeter shooting and spacing – Off-ball scoring – Efficient scoring profile

Risk: Limited playmaking and on-ball creation

Ty Harper | 6’3 – 191 cm | Slavia Nymburk | Combo guard

Fit: Combo guard who can provide shot creation, scoring volume, and secondary pick-and-roll handling.

Featured offensive guard with strong scoring production (17.7 PPG), capable of attacking downhill and creating pull-up opportunities. Can handle some pick-and-roll possessions, but playmaking efficiency remains limited.

Strengths: Shot creation – Scoring volume – Downhill attack

Risk: Decision-making and playmaking efficiency

Deyton Albury | 6’2 – 188 cm | Fribourg Olympic | Combo guard

Fit: Combo guard who can add downhill scoring, physical drives, and secondary shot creation in structured offenses.

Guard with strong slashing efficiency (55.6% 2P) and the ability to create his own shot using pace and body control. Provides scoring versatility but remains more scorer than organizer, with limited off-ball impact.

Strengths: Slashing efficiency and finishing – Shot creation with pace and strength – Functional secondary handling

Risk: Decision-making under pressure and limited off-ball value

Marcus Banks | 6’3 – 191 cm | Nitra Blue Wings | Shooting guard

Fit: Perimeter scorer who can provide shooting gravity, movement shooting, and secondary handling in structured offenses.

Guard with high-level shooting range and proven volume from three (37.8% 3PT on 9 attempts), effective off screens, pull-ups, and ball-screen actions. More of a secondary handler than a true creator, with ball security still an issue under pressure.

Strengths: Shooting range and volume – Off-ball scoring – Functional secondary handling

Risk: Handling under pressure and average defensive lateral quickness

D.J. Smith | 6’0 – 183 cm | Norrkoping Dolphins | Combo guard

Fit: Small combo guard who can provide scoring volume, pace, and offensive aggressiveness.

High-volume producer (19 PPG) who puts pressure on defenses through pace, shot volume, and downhill intent. Adds perimeter volume with 3 made 3PT per game, but size and pure table-setting value limit his margin as a full-time organizer.

Strengths: Scoring volume – Offensive aggressiveness – Perimeter shot volume

Risk: Size and lead-guard orchestration

This is the difference between public scouting content and club-specific scouting support.

A public radar can show names, trends and profiles to monitor. The real value for a club is the next filter: which players are realistic for its level, budget, roster construction, playing style and timing.

That is the direction of my Scouting & Recruitment Support: smaller, private player pools built around one club’s actual needs instead of a generic list for everyone.
