Weekly Scouting Update – 31

As clubs continue preparing for the upcoming market, each Weekly Scouting Update now features a shortlist built to reflect our scouting work in a more direct and practical way. It offers a focused sample of the type of player selection that can later be tailored to specific team needs.

Shortlist of the Week

With the CEBL season now underway, the focus shifts to one of the most useful summer platforms for tracking players with European market potential. This week’s shortlist highlights four names whose profiles deserve early attention in that context.

Justin Harmon | 6’4 – 193 cm | Ottawa | Combo guard

Fit: Athletic combo guard for a team needing second-unit scoring, downhill pressure, and improved spot-up shooting.

Explosive guard who is most effective attacking closeouts, playing off advantages, and scoring without dominating the ball. The shooting trend has improved significantly, adding value to his slashing profile, while advanced playmaking remains limited.

Strengths:
• Downhill scoring and rim pressure
• Improved 3P shooting
• Secondary creation and defensive activity

Risk:
• Playmaking reads and turnover management

Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe | 6’8 – 203 cm | Brampton | Energy forward

Fit: Athletic energy forward for a team needing rebounding, defensive versatility, transition play, and low-usage finishing.

Explosive forward with strong rebounding production, defensive mobility, and value attacking the rim. Can impact through transition, cuts, screens, and offensive boards, but his lack of shooting range limits spacing and offensive versatility.

Strengths:
• Elite rebounding for the position
• Athletic finishing and transition play
• Defensive versatility

Risk:
• No 3P range and turnover prone

Kellen Tynes | 6’3 – 191 cm | Scarborough | Combo guard

Fit: Defensive combo guard for a team needing perimeter pressure, secondary playmaking, and off-ball activity.

Elite defensive guard with high steal production, strong instincts, and the versatility to guard multiple perimeter roles. Offensively, he can pass, cut, and create some advantage in pick-and-roll, but lacks consistent shooting and clean 1v1 separation.

Strengths:
• Elite perimeter defense
• Passing and secondary playmaking
• Off-ball movement

Risk:
• 3P consistency and self-created scoring

Quincy Guerrier | 6’7 – 201 cm | Montreal | Physical forward

Fit: Physical forward for a team needing rebounding, off-ball movement, athletic finishing, and frontcourt versatility.

Athletic forward with strong physical tools, rebounding value, and the ability to impact through cuts, rim attacks, and activity around the basket. The improved 3P shooting adds spacing potential, but decision-making and overall efficiency still need refinement.

Strengths:
• Rebounding and physicality
• Off-ball movement
• Athletic finishing

Risk:
• Shot selection, and limited passing feel

Tailored Shortlists

This is the type of shortlist-based filtering we use to narrow the market in a practical way. A broader CEBL guide is also in preparation, while clubs looking for tailored shortlists, deeper player pools, and role-specific scouting support can request custom work or explore full membership on the platform.
