INTRODUCTION

Jonah Pierce began his collegiate career at Francis Marion, where he made an immediate impact by earning Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year and Third Team All-Conference honors. Over two seasons, he produced more than 700 points and 450 rebounds before transferring to Presbyterian. After an early injury in the 2023–24 season that led to a medical redshirt, he returned to reach the 1,000-point milestone in his career. He was later named to the All-Big South First Team, confirming his profile as a productive interior player focused on scoring, rebounding and rim protection.

OFFENSIVE PROFILE

Jonah Pierce operates primarily as a paint-oriented scorer, generating most of his offensive production around the basket. He finishes efficiently near the rim, shooting 57% from 2-P range in his D-I career, and creates additional possessions through offensive rebounding, averaging 3 per game. His scoring comes mainly from interior touches, second-chance opportunities, and consistent activity in the paint, while also showing suitability for a role as a pick-and-roll finisher. Pierce’s offensive range remains limited, with no established perimeter shooting and low playmaking production. His offensive impact is therefore dependent on maintaining high efficiency near the rim while managing turnovers, which currently stand at around 3 per game.

DEFENSIVE PROFILE

Jonah Pierce provides defensive value through rebounding presence and interior activity. He is a consistent rim protector, averaging 1.4 blocks per game and recording multiple games with high block production. His defensive impact is strongest in the paint, where he can influence possessions through size, timing and physical presence. He shows some activity around the ball beyond shot-blocking, but his overall defensive profile remains heavily interior-oriented. Perimeter mobility is still developing and can create challenges, particularly in situations that require switching or extended coverage, as well as in managing foul situations.

DEVELOPMENT AREAS

Expanding his shooting range would be a key step in reducing the limitations of a strictly paint-based offensive role. Improving free-throw consistency is another important area of development to increase overall efficiency. Adding more passing ability on post touches and interior catches would make him less predictable and more versatile offensively. In the long term, improving defensive mobility and effectiveness away from the rim will be essential to support his transition to higher levels of competition.
