INTRODUCTION

Cesare Edwards began at Xavier, where he served primarily as a rotational player off the bench, averaging just over 7 minutes per game for two seasons. He transferred to Missouri State with a Sixth Man role, earning a spot on the MVC Bench Team. In his senior season, he moved to the Panthers to become a key player; he started all 33 games and delivered a breakout performance, leading the roster in points, blocks, and coming in second in rebounds behind Nick McMullen. He earned All-Sun Belt Second-Team honors and multiple Player of the Week recognitions.

PHYSICAL

Cesare Edwards has a good size with a strong, athletic frame ideally suited for forward/center duties. While he does not have elite athleticism and lacks the explosiveness to be a high-impact roller, he demonstrates good mobility, fluid coordination, and an ability to operate effectively in modern spacing systems. Given his size, he can impact the area, and adding mass could enhance his ability to absorb contact and hold position at higher levels. While there are areas for improvement in lateral quickness, he compensates with a sense of positioning and timing around the paint.

OFFENSIVE PHASE

Cesare Edwards is a multi-level threat on the offensive end. Combining good presence at the rim and the ability to space the floor. His improvement in shooting during his senior season has shown he can stretch the floor with range (43.5% on 2.1 attempts), combined with a decent facilitation ability (1.3 assists) that makes him a stretch-five prospect. As a more traditional center, he is able to establish position in the post and finish inside using a soft touch (52.2% on 10.8 attempts). However, he has room for development as a roller and in decision-making; he can over-dribble to create space and tends to attack the traffic, leading to turnovers (2.1 on average). Overall, his offensive versatility makes him a strong fit in systems that value spacing and pace.

DEFENSIVE PHASE

Cesare Edwards impacts the game with timing and presence in the paint. He contributed 1.5 blocks per game, ranking among the best in the Sun Belt Conference. While he has a good sense of positioning and timing, he does not possess elite reactiveness, but his rebounding consistency (7.1 per game) anchored team performance on the boards. However, due to his limited lateral quickness, he can struggle on the perimeter in switches against faster opposing guards and occasionally have issues managing fouls. Overall, his size, effort, and sense of positioning make him a reliable rim protector and help defender.

IMPROVED AREAS

Cesare Edwards needs to strengthen his ability to absorb physical contact and, at the same time, improve his lateral quickness in order to defend more effectively on switches. Moreover, on the offensive side, he must refine his decision-making by limiting over-dribbling and in particular avoiding traffic-heavy possessions that too often result in turnovers. In addition, developing as a more impactful roller in pick-and-roll actions would add a valuable dimension to his game, therefore complementing his already established stretch ability. Overall, with targeted improvements in athletic responsiveness and offensive efficiency, Edwards can gradually evolve from a solid role player into a reliable two-way contributor at the professional level.
