INTRODUCTION

Jhamir Brickus started his career at LaSalle, where he already stood out as a freshman earning a spot on the All-Rookie Team of the Atlantic-10. A key player in the starting-five, alongside Khalil Brantley during his junior and senior years, he created a dynamic duo capable of leading the Explorers in points and assists. He was named to the Third Team Atlantic-10 in 2024 and transferred to the Wildcats for his graduate season. As a floor general, he ensured the pace and involvement of his teammates, allowing Eric Dixon to become the top scorer in the entire NCAA.

PHYSICAL

Jhamir Brickus has a limited size but is compact and strong-legged, a sturdy lead guard with surprising lower-body power. His frame helps him fight through contact and maintain balance in traffic. He’s energetic with solid lateral mobility and quick hands, allowing him to defend and navigate tight spaces. While not explosive or overly athletic, he maximizes what he has through basketball IQ and toughness. Vertical elevation is modest, but his strength and body control give him the ability to create space for a shot or gain an advantage off the dribble.

OFFENSIVE PHASE

Jhamir Brickus is a floor general who combines elite decision-making, leadership, and a consistent three-point shot. While for his size he can struggle to attack the rim, at Villanova, he shot an impressive 47.3% from three on 3.6 attempts per game. He’s a spot-up sniper, excels in catch-and-shoot play, and can connect easily off pump-fakes or quick releases. His ability to create space for a pull-up makes him difficult to limit, and he has a consistent shot selection (46% from the field on 8 attempts throughout his NCAA career). As a main handler, he can manage offensive sets and utilize keen vision in pick-and-roll situations and transition. Even in different systems like Explorers and Wildcats, he has confirmed his reading abilities (averaging 4.8 assists per game) and a careful management of possessions, with an assist-to-turnover ratio of a solid +2.5 in recent seasons. However, he is not a pure scorer and does not possess elite offensive talent, but he has leadership and clutch skills. His offensive profile is low-usage yet high-impact.

DEFENSIVE PHASE

Jhamir Brickus brings consistent effort, intelligence, and pressure on the perimeter. He uses quick hands to limit the opposing handler and force steals (1.1 on average during his college years), while off the ball he tries to anticipate and disrupt passing lanes. While he can switch onto opposing guards and contest actions, his lack of vertical burst and limited reach challenge him when defending taller or more explosive opponents. However, his limited size puts him at a disadvantage the closer he is in the paint, even though his compact build allows him to absorb contact and stay in a defensive stance. He possesses good lateral mobility and court awareness, but overall his impact on defense is limited, and he can become a target in static play situations and mismatches.

IMPROVED AREAS

Jhamir Brickus should focus on expanding his offensive versatility. Increasing finishing efficiency at the rim would diversify his scoring profile and reduce predictability. Although it is complex to become a reliable slasher. Defensively, adding core and upper-body strength could help him better contest against bigger guards. Developing closeout speed and recovery angles would also limit exposure in mismatches. While his high IQ and shooting translate well to the pro level, becoming a more dynamic scorer and resilient defender will be key to sustaining a role in competitive leagues. Overall, as a rookie, he can immediately guarantee a solid impact in a mid-level league. His potential is interesting, at the top European level.
