POTENTIAL
INTRODUCTION
Anthony Roberts built a dynamic collegiate career across three programs. He was initially recruited by Kent State, later transferring to St. Bonaventure, where he logged only limited minutes, before completing his NCAA journey at Stony Brook. With the Seawolves he became the offensive leader and earned America East Second-Team honors. Despite having one year of eligibility remaining, he declared for the NBA Draft; after going undrafted, he began his professional career in Portugal with Vitória Guimarães.
PHYSICAL
Anthony Roberts is an athletic and explosive guard with a strong first step and impressive elevation, allowing him to attack the rim with purpose. His frame is solid enough to absorb contact, and his coordination enables him to finish in acrobatic ways when forced into difficult angles. He is fast in the open floor, and in transition or early offense he can create separation quickl, even as a secondary handler, making him difficult to contain in space.
OFFENSIVE PHASE
Anthony Roberts thrives in isolation, where most of his scoring is self-created. He generates separation off the dribble and can rise into jumpers from beyond the arc, an option he uses selectively, but his primary weapon is getting downhill. His slashing ability puts significant pressure on defenses and earns him frequent trips to the free-throw line, where he is a reliable finisher. While he is an instinctive scorer, he is not a natural facilitator; his assist-to-turnover ratio hovers near zero, indicating limited floor-vision and rhythm management. However, his shot selection is more controlled than his profile suggests, and his field-goal percentages reflect a scorer who understands his strengths without forcing excessively low-percentage attempts.
DEFENSIVE PHASE
Anthony Roberts offers limited impact. Even in college he struggled to generate steals, and lapses in focus can lead to easy points or avoidable fouls. Despite having the athletic tools, quick feet, explosive leaping, and the ability to apply full-court pressure, he rarely uses his hands effectively and lacks anticipation in passing lanes. His vertical pop, however, does translate to the glass, where averaging nearly 4 rebounds per game for a guard is a positive indicator.
IMPROVED AREAS
Anthony Roberts must raise his defensive intensity and engagement to succeed at higher levels in Europe. His on-ball tools are strong, but consistent effort, anticipation, and discipline are required to avoid becoming a liability. Offensively, if used more frequently as a primary handler, he will need to improve his passing reads and become more comfortable sharing the ball, particularly outside basic pick-and-roll actions. His scoring talent is undeniable and should soon open doors to good-tier European leagues, where his athleticism and offensive instincts can translate into a meaningful rotation role.
