POTENTIAL
INTRODUCTION
Jeremiah Bailey was born in Alaska and attended Pacific University for four years, receiving no individual or team awards, only an honorable mention from the WWC Conference. Not selected in the draft, his first adventure in Europe took him to Glasgow, where the impact has been nothing short of remarkable in these first months: 14.8 points and 9.9 rebounds in addition to 3.2 assists
PHYSICAL
Jeremiah Bailey is a very athletic forward, explosive and always ready to attack the rim. He is not particularly sculpted – rather lanky – and, although he can play a few minutes inside, he prefers to play outside. Quick to cover the lanes in transition, he may struggle a bit on defense against faster opponents, but he has the arms and inches to bother them if they attack the basket.
OFFENSIVE PHASE
Jeremiah Bailey is quite a complete player and this often makes him a complex puzzle for opposing defenses to handle. He is able to hit with some reliability from beyond the arc (36% on over 4 attempts per game in Scottish soil) but has the legs to get to the hoop with ease. He doesn’t always have the right timing for cuts, a detail that occasionally leads him to occupy the space outside that attacks the basket. In two-player game situations, he tends to open up to try from the outside, with those legs he should try to roll more decisively.
DEFENSIVE PHASE
Jeremiah Bailey lacks no goodwill, but between impetuosity and a limited ability to find himself in the right place. He often risks not finishing the races. The awareness of being a valuable athlete leads him to seek some excessive risk in the intimidation phase (a blocked shot in the race). He is strong in rebound presence, a blend of explosiveness and positional sense.
IMPROVED AREAS
Jeremiah Bailey management of possessions tends too often to lose balls in a banal way (2.6 on average) also due to a revisable handling. Furthermore, a greater discipline and attention in the defensive phase is required, where some risk and distraction cost him minutes on the bench due to foul problems and, even more importantly, points for his team.
