David Bohm

INTRODUCTION: Great performances at youth level, both with the club and with the national team, led him to the prestigious Montverde Academy. He moved to the NCAA with Northern Kentucky didn’t go very well but helped him improve his body. Back in his homeland he played a high-profile season and reached the play-offs (12.4 points and 7.4 rebounds). Also his first call-up to the senior national team.

PHYSICAL: He has a good physicality combined with decent athleticism that allows him to assert himself even near the basket. He’s not very fast and agile, the lateral mobility can put him in difficulty against faster opponents. He has improved the ability to absorb contacts near the glasses and this makes him more useful for rebounding with a good sense of the position. Overall he has a decent body to play basketball and make him versatile on two roles like “4” and “5”.

OFFENSIVE PHASE: He is an interesting player at moving off the ball, he runs the court well and is able to lead the fastbreak with an interesting dribbling ability for a player of his size; he is an external player with a good shooting range but he must to improve his average from beyond the arc (31.9% on 5 attempts  per match). He can beat on the court a close-out with an effective handling and exploit his size to punish the switches of the opposing defenses from low-post with a great pump fakes and footwork. He is a potential facilitator (1.2 assist) but the right reads not that are not always followed by correct passes (1.6 turnover).

DEFENSIVE PHASE: Good presence near the glass, he is difficult to move and has a good mobility which allows him good timing to help and recover even if he tends to have some problems in managing fouls (3.2). Struggled in switch situations on the point-guard or more athletic forward where he used bad the body and hands, he has a lateral mobility limited and it’s not very productive in his own court when staying far to the basket. 

IMPROVED AREAS: The potential is very interesting, he can play two roles and open the court with his shot but he must reach 36-37% from beyond the arc to become productive. He needs to improve the quality of his passing because he currently has readings above his passing ability. By staying homeland, he risks becoming a player used mostly as a “5” and risks limiting his growth.
