After an initial stint at West Virginia, he moved to a JuCo, then Nebraska, and eventually landed at New Mexico State, where he led the team to a WAC title and earned Conference MVP honors. He made national headlines during March Madness, dropping 37 points in a major upset win over UConn. As a pro, he spent two productive seasons in Canada (CEBL), with a brief stint in the TBL where he posted 28 points and 9 rebounds per game.
