INTRODUCTION
Cam Amboree developed at Oral Roberts before transferring to Southern, where both his role and production increased significantly. After limited opportunities during his first two D-I seasons, he gradually emerged as a consistent contributor and one of the Jaguars’ primary backcourt pieces in his senior year. His collegiate progression reflects a guard who grew into a lead-creation role through improved decision-making, perimeter shooting and greater offensive responsibility.
OFFENSIVE PROFILE
Cam Amboree operates as a lead guard with primary ball-handling responsibilities. His offensive value is built around dribble creation, tempo control and playmaking rather than physical rim pressure. While he possesses good size for the position, he still needs additional strength to consistently absorb contact and finish efficiently around the basket. His perimeter shooting developed into a reliable weapon, converting 37.2% from 3P range on 4.3 attempts per game. He can create advantages off the dribble and involve teammates effectively, as reflected by a career assist-to-turnover ratio of +1.8. Although capable of scoring when needed, his best offensive impact comes from organizing possessions, facilitating offensive flow and making sound decisions with the ball. Improving overall shooting efficiency remains an important area of growth.
DEFENSIVE PROFILE
Cam Amboree contributes as an active point-of-attack defender. His combination of size, mobility and above-average length for the position allows him to apply pressure on opposing ball handlers and generate defensive events. His steal production increased to 1.6 per game, highlighting improved anticipation and defensive activity. His impact is driven more by effort, awareness and length than by physical strength or defensive versatility. While he has the tools to defend guard matchups effectively, he is not a switch-heavy defender and can struggle against stronger opponents. His greatest defensive value comes from ball pressure, disruption and forcing turnovers.
DEVELOPMENT AREAS
Adding strength would improve both his finishing ability and defensive effectiveness against physical guards. Becoming a more efficient scorer inside the arc would complement his playmaking and perimeter shooting, making him a more complete offensive threat. Continuing to refine decision-making under pressure and expanding his ability to create offense in late-clock situations would further strengthen his lead-guard profile. Defensively, improved physicality would help him maximize the advantages provided by his length and mobility.
