INTRODUCTION

Zawdie Jackson developed his career across multiple competitive levels, with his breakout coming at West Georgia in D-II, where he led the program to a 27–6 record and conference titles. He was twice named to the Gulf South Tournament Team and, in 2024, earned Player of the Year and Tournament MVP honors. Following this success, he transitioned to D-I with New Mexico State, starting every game and leading the team in both assists and 3-P percentage. For his graduate season, he moved to FIU, where he confirmed his profile as a lead guard combining perimeter efficiency, playmaking and controlled turnover management.

OFFENSIVE PROFILE

Zawdie Jackson operates as a primary ball handler capable of both scoring and facilitating. His perimeter shooting is a key element of his game, converting 37.7% from 3-P range, and he is comfortable generating pull-up shots off the dribble. He is more effective as a perimeter scorer than as a finisher at the rim, where his size limits his impact against length. His offensive profile is built on shot creation, tempo control and decision-making, as reflected by a solid assist-to-turnover ratio of +2.2 across his two seasons in Conference USA. His efficiency showed a natural decline at the D-I level compared to his dominant production at West Georgia, highlighting both the adjustment to higher competition and his ability to remain productive in a more demanding context.

DEFENSIVE PROFILE

Zawdie Jackson contributes as an active guard defender, bringing on-ball pressure, lateral mobility and quick hands. He averaged 1.3 steals per game, showing activity in passing lanes and the ability to generate turnovers. His defensive impact is partially limited by his physical profile, particularly when matched against bigger guards, reducing his versatility across multiple positions. He is most effective in guard-to-guard matchups, where effort, positioning and awareness allow him to remain competitive despite physical limitations.

DEVELOPMENT AREAS

Improving his finishing against size and contact is a key priority. Adding strength would help him absorb contact offensively and compete better against bigger guards defensively. He also needs to maintain efficient decision-making under pressure and avoid relying too much on steals to remain solid within team defensive structure.
