INTRODUCTION
Justin Wright is a multi-program D-I combo guard who played at North Carolina Central, Loyola Marymount and UNC Asheville. During his time at NCCU, he earned All-MEAC First Team honors in 2022 and All-MEAC Second Team in 2023. After missing the 2024-25 season due to injury, he returned in his graduate year as a full-time starter and one of the leaders of the Bulldogs. He finished his college career with over 1,750 points, building a profile centered on scoring production, perimeter shooting and on-ball creation within a combo guard role.
OFFENSIVE PROFILE
Justin Wright operates as a scoring-first guard with consistent on-ball responsibilities, combining shot creation with secondary playmaking. He is effective at creating advantages off the dribble and shows a reliable pull-up game from the mid-range, although he lacks the explosiveness to consistently finish at the rim against length. His efficiency supports his scoring profile, shooting 47.9% from the field and 37.3% from 3-P range on 3.9 attempts per game. His offensive impact is driven more by scoring than by playmaking organization, and his decision-making under pressure can lead to turnovers (2.3 per game). He is capable of handling pick-and-roll situations and finding teammates, but does not project as a true lead playmaker.
DEFENSIVE PROFILE
Justin Wright has a solid physical frame for a guard and contributes with active on-ball defense. He averaged 1.2 steals per game, showing the ability to generate defensive plays through anticipation and quick hands. His overall defensive impact remains limited, as his production is more activity-based than consistently disruptive. He applies good pressure on opposing ball handlers but does not offer significant versatility across multiple positions, projecting primarily as a guard-specific defender.
DEVELOPMENT AREAS
Improving decision-making in high-usage situations would help reduce turnovers and increase overall efficiency. Adding more consistent playmaking value would strengthen his profile as a primary ball handler. Defensively, increasing impact beyond steals and activity is necessary to raise his overall value. Developing off-ball effectiveness when not directly involved in creation would also expand his role and adaptability at the professional level.
