INTRODUCTION

Lamar Wilkerson is a scoring guard who made his mark at Sam Houston State after transferring from Three Rivers College, where he earned Honorable Mention All-American honors at the JuCo level in 2022. After one season as the Sixth Man, he earned a starting role and became the leading scorer for the Bearkats, taking over from Qua Grant. Over the following seasons, Wilkerson established himself as the team’s go-to player and earned All-Conference USA First Team honors twice (2024 and 2025). For his graduate season, he transferred to the Indiana Hoosiers, looking to test himself at a higher competitive level.

PHYSICAL

Lamar Wilkerson has ideal size for a swingman, enabling him to operate both on and off the ball effectively. His solid frame allows him to absorb contact and maintain balance when attacking the rim. He combines fluid movement with good agility, giving him the ability to cut sharply and create separation. Although not an elite athlete, Wilkerson’s strength and mobility make him adaptable against a variety of matchups. His physical profile supports his versatility, allowing him to impact the game in both perimeter and transition situations.

OFFENSIVE PHASE

Lamar Wilkerson is a versatile scorer with the ability to create his own shot and generate offense from multiple spots on the floor. He excels at shooting off the dribble and attacking closeouts, using quick footwork and balance to finish at the rim or rise for mid-range pull-ups. A reliable perimeter threat, he shot 44.5% from three on 7.7 attempts per game, showcasing deep range and a compact release. Wilkerson moves well without the ball, cutting effectively into open spaces and thriving in transition. However, his shot selection can fluctuate, sometimes leading to forced attempts against interior defenders. His ball-handling is functional but can be more precise, especially with his weak hand. To reach a higher offensive level, he needs to improve decision-making and consistency in creating advantages for teammates, reducing moments of inefficient play.

DEFENSIVE PHASE

Lamar Wilkerson brings length, size, and solid athletic tools that allow him to defend multiple positions. On the perimeter, he applies pressure and uses active hands to disrupt ball handlers. His lateral quickness is decent, though he can be beaten off the dribble by faster guards. Off the ball, Wilkerson still shows room for improvement in maintaining awareness and reacting promptly in rotations. While his physicality helps him hold his ground, improving his defensive discipline and communication would make him more reliable in team schemes. With better focus and consistency, he has the tools to become a strong two-way contributor.

IMPROVED AREAS

Lamar Wilkerson must refine his shot selection and improve his decision-making to better balance scoring with playmaking. Becoming more consistent in creating opportunities for teammates and maintaining focus on the defensive end will help him elevate his overall game. While his offensive skill set is already advanced, he can take a step forward by developing a more efficient approach within structured systems. His physical and technical tools suggest strong potential to adapt well to professional basketball in various European contexts.
