INTRODUCTION

Ahmad Robinson had a dynamic collegiate basketball journey. He started his career at the JuCo level, where he was named to the Third Team All-American in 2022. He had a standout season at New Hampshire, earning a spot on the Third Team of the America East Conference, alongside Clarence Daniels and Jaxson Baker. For his senior season, he transferred to Mercer, where he formed an interesting offensive backcourt with Tyler Johnson. Additionally, he was the team leader in scoring, assists, and steals, earning a spot on the Second Team All-Tournament of the SoCon. Finally, for his graduate season, he transferred to UAB.

PHYSICAL

Ahmad Robinson has an undersized stature, but his explosive athleticism compensates for his height disadvantage. He possesses quick lateral movement, great speed, and good body control that allows him to drive to the basket. While his strength and vertical leap – he can dunk in the open court – are above average. Nonetheless, his agility and endurance make him an energizer on the court, capable of sustaining a high pace of play for extended minutes.

OFFENSIVE PHASE

Ahmad Robinson is a point guard who excels in transition play. Thanks to his combination of speed and handling, he is able to gain an advantage off the dribble. He thrives as a ball-handler, using his speed to penetrate defenses and create scoring opportunities for teammates (5 assists per game). In terms of scoring, he prefers attacking the rim, where he has interesting percentages as a finisher (47.7% on 8.5 attempts), while his mid-range shot off the dribble has room for improvement. He needs to find greater consistency in his three-point shooting (31.3% on 4.8 attempts) and make better shot selections. In isolation, he tends to force plays and is not always sharp in decision-making. At a high pace, he can have a few poorly managed possessions (assist/turnover ratio +1.3), but this is a necessity to make the most of his main characteristics and avoid being overpowered by size and physicality.

DEFENSIVE PHASE

Ahmad Robinson is effective in press situations on-the-ball, forcing turnovers and turning them into fast-break opportunities (1.9 steals). Despite his height, he compensates with excellent lateral mobility and positioning that allow him to be a persistent defensive presence on the perimeter. However, his physical limitations can be exposed when matched against bigger guards, and he can struggle to contest opponents in mismatch situations. The combination of athleticism and quickness makes him a surprising rebounder for his size (4.9 per game at Mercer).

IMPROVED AREAS

Ahmad Robinson must prioritize improving his three-point consistency and shot selection. Given his limited size, he needs to work on his physical strength to better handle professional-level physicality. He projects as a dynamic point guard in a fast-paced system, ideally suited for a role as a facilitator or spark plug off the bench. Overall, his leadership qualities and ability to be a reliable scorer could lead him to have a solid career overseas in some mid level leagues.
