POTENTIAL
INTRODUCTION
Jason Jitoboh is a Nigerian big man who played for four years at Florida. After two seasons on the sidelines, as a junior, he entered on the Gators frontcourt rotations before transferring in his final year of eligibility to the Tigers, where he was placed in the starting five and recorded all his high-career stats.
PHYSICAL
Jason Jitoboh is a big man with a significant size, very physical, using his body with strength to create space, and seeking contact to gain an advantage. His footwork and dynamism are interesting for his size, although he should work on sculpting his figure better, gaining stamina and speed when running the court.
OFFENSIVE PHASE
Jason Jitoboh is a capable finisher, difficult to limit when receiving the ball in the post or in the paint (56.6% on 5.9 attempts). In pick and roll situations, he proves to be a solid screener who has the potential to improve as a roller in terms of speed. He has demonstrated his ability to score from the post using a variety of movements thanks to good footwork. His size allows him to back down defenders and finish with hook shots or dunks, but he is also capable of passing to a teammate on the perimeter (1.1 assists per game). He has a soft touch from the free-throw line (82.6% on 3.5 attempts) and although he does not have a mid-range or frontcourt shot, he appears to have good room for growth. In the last two seasons, he has made 2/7 from beyond the three-point line.
DEFENSIVE PHASE
Jason Jitoboh is an excellent rim-protector (2.8 in 27′ per match) and serves as a deterrent for attacking the rim. He is solid in rebounding where his size helps, but his positioning and explosiveness have room for improvement (5.1 per game). In static defensive situations, he is able to withstand physical contact, but he may encounter issues in wider spacing on the perimeter despite having decent lateral mobility for his size. His energy and commitment confirm good work ethic, but the excessive use of his body’s force leads him to manage issues with fouls (2.8 on average).
IMPROVED AREAS
Jason Jitoboh is a big man who can immediately make a significant impact on the defensive end, but he also has great upside. Working on his body to become more dynamic and autonomous on the court (only 4 games played with over 30 minutes) could turn him into an elite defender. On the offensive end, his free-throw percentages suggest a soft touch, allowing for a reliable mid-range shot and making him more versatile. He could be a double-double player in medium-level leagues from his early seasons.
