INTRODUCTION

Kris Bankston, a native of Little Rock, began his collegiate career at his hometown program before transferring to Norfolk State in search of a larger role. With the Spartans, he became a consistent starter, starting 60 games and producing the best numbers of his career. He played a key role in the 2022 MEAC title and reached the conference final again in 2023, narrowly losing by one point. During his time at Norfolk State, he earned two selections to the All-Defensive Team and a place on the All-MEAC Second Team, while also participating in the 2023 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, confirming his profile as a high-level defensive prospect.

PHYSICAL

Kris Bankston shows an ideal combination of tools for a modern interior player, combining mobility, athleticism and the ability to run the floor effectively. He has good open-court speed and fluid movement, supported by adequate length and a wingspan that enhances his defensive impact. Despite not having traditional size for a big man, he plays with solid physicality and shows decent footwork, including in lateral movement situations. Overall, he presents a very interesting and functional physical profile for the professional level.

OFFENSIVE PHASE

Kris Bankston is a highly efficient finisher, often playing above the rim and converting with authority (69.4% from 2-P range). He is particularly effective as a roller and in off-ball situations, where his mobility makes him difficult to contain, especially for slower defenders. His involvement in low-post situations is more limited, where he shows decent footwork but can be prone to turnovers (1.8 per game). He is not yet a factor in mid-range scoring, although his touch suggests potential for development, as reflected by solid free-throw shooting (71.4%) and limited but encouraging attempts from beyond the arc (2 made out of 5 attempts). With continued development, he could expand his offensive range and become a more versatile scoring option.

DEFENSIVE PHASE

Kris Bankston has established himself as a high-level defender, earning multiple All-Defensive Team selections thanks to his rim protection (1.5 blocks per game) and ability to impact plays beyond the paint. He shows the mobility to switch onto perimeter players and execute aggressive coverage when required, although this approach can lead to foul issues (2.7 per game). His activity and desire to protect the rim are clear strengths, but at times result in poor timing on contests and lapses in defensive rotations. Improving discipline and consistency will be key, as his physical tools and defensive instincts project him as a potential top-tier defender at the European level.

IMPROVED AREAS

Kris Bankston has significant development potential and the tools to become a well-established player in Europe. Developing a reliable mid-range shot would increase his offensive versatility, while reducing unnecessary turnovers would improve overall efficiency. Defensively, he must focus on discipline and decision-making to limit impulsive plays and maximize his impact. He will begin his professional career in the Israeli Winner League with Hapoel Be’er Sheva, an important step to test his profile at a higher competitive level.
