INTRODUCTION
Brendan Bailey comes from a strong basketball background, as his father Thurl played more than a decade in the NBA before continuing his career in Greece and Italy. After two seasons at Marquette, Bailey left college early to pursue a professional career. Following a brief six-game experience with TFT Skopje, he returned to the United States to play in the G-League. After, he signed in Sweden, where he produced a solid year as a sharpshooter, averaging 17.6 points while shooting 38.4% from 3P range.
OFFENSIVE PROFILE
Brendan Bailey is primarily a sharpshooter, with catch-and-shoot situations representing his preferred solution. He can also score coming off screens, while creating his own shot off the dribble is less natural. He is capable of attacking closeouts and getting to the mid-range area, but rarely puts consistent pressure on the rim despite having the athleticism to produce above-the-rim finishes. His shot distribution reflects this tendency, with 184 2P attempts compared to 276 3P attempts during the season. He has functional ball-handling and decent reads, but playmaking is not a major part of his profile. He also makes limited use of post mismatches against smaller defenders.
DEFENSIVE PROFILE
Brendan Bailey has the length, mobility and athleticism to bother opponents defensively and can provide some versatility on the perimeter. His wingspan also gives him value as a secondary rim protector in help situations, while his athletic tools allow him to contribute on the defensive glass. However, his limited willingness to play through physical contact reduces his consistency, especially against stronger opponents. Foul management was not a significant issue during his European experience.
DEVELOPMENT AREAS
Expanding his offensive game beyond perimeter shooting is the main priority, as his shot selection can become too predictable when heavily centered on three-pointers. Using his athleticism more consistently to attack closeouts, finish at the rim and exploit mismatches would make him a more complete scorer. Defensively, greater physical commitment would help translate his length and mobility into more consistent impact. His tools suggest the potential to compete at a higher level than Sweden.
