POTENTIAL
INTRODUCTION
KeyShawn Feazell is former at Mississippi State for three years then moved to McNeese State for a double-double season (13.1 and 9.9) that earned him the Second Team of Conference. For the super-senior season he is on the roster in the ambitious Creighton but doesn’t find minutes on the court. Rookie year in Europe was in Finland where he got to play the semifinals with Salon Vilpas.
PHYSICAL
KeyShawn Feazell has a well-shaped body that allows him to hold contacts without being overly strong, showcasing good athleticism and timing for both elevation and cuts to the basket. He exhibits fair lateral mobility, runs the field effectively, and boasts a good wingspan. Overall, he possesses the right combination of physicality and athleticism.
OFFENSIVE PHASE
KeyShawn Feazell is an excellent roller and loves to find points near the glass, also effective in cuts on the bottom. He can play low post, doesn’t have much movement or pump fakes but a decent fade-away. Shooting from the mid-range that takes with ease (even enough for free throws: 73%) while shooting from beyond the arc is mechanical, slow and the percentages have never increased (21% at college, 24% in Finland). Surprising as a passer in the high post, he knows how to read his teammates’ cuts well and find the winning pass (1.6 assists). Good rebounding presence (1.8 per game) but needs to pay more attention on screens where he tends to move and cause offensive fouls.
DEFENSIVE PHASE
KeyShawn Feazell is present both as a rim protector (1.2 blocks) and as a rebounder (7.3). He can struggle in contact or static situations against the strongest big men, but with his mobility, he is able to help and recover quickly. On the perimeter, he manages to make stops, not too deep, and is more useful in basket coverage but can hold up for a few seconds against a point guard. Good energy, but sometimes he exaggerates and commits some silly fouls.
IMPROVED AREAS
KeyShawn Feazell is a good energy player and ready for battle but doesn’t seem to have much room for growth. Improving his 3-point shot could certainly make him more versatile after screens; in fact, he would be more dangerous on the perimeter as a passer and shooter. He will never be a great scorer, but after a solid rookie season, he confirmed that he can have a long career at the European mid-level.
