INTRODUCTION

Atin Wright began his career at Cal State Northridge, where he stayed for three years. After his first year coming off the bench, he earned Big West Honorable Mention honors twice (2022 and 2023) and scored a career-high 42 points vs. UC Davis. He then transferred to Drake for his junior season, helping them win the MVC Tournament – earning All‑Tournament acclaim – forming a solid duo with Darnell Brodie alongside star Tucker DeVries. For his graduate year, Wright made an immediate impact at the Mean Green, earning AAC First Team and All-Newcomer honors while leading the AAC in three-point accuracy. In his career, he surpassed the milestone of 2000 points scored.

PHYSICAL

Atin Wright may not have a great size but possesses a compact, athletic frame that supports his two-way guard role. While he shows good endurance, consistently logging around 30 minutes per game, he does not have elite athleticism. He runs the court well, not exceptionally explosive but his strength aids in absorbing contact and maintaining stability. His coordination and agility allow for effective movement both on and off the ball and the ability to create space for himself, especially in pull-up situations. However, he may lack height and physicality against stronger and more athletic opponents.

OFFENSIVE PHASE

Atin Wright is a reliable shooter from beyond the three-point arc. He is hitting 40.4% on 6.9 attempts per game, increasing his volume compared to the season at Drake but not dropping his consistency (40.6% on 4.6 shots). His mechanics are smooth, especially in catch-and-shoot and off-screen actions. While he can create space for a shot off-the-dribble, to attack the rim he needs screens from his teammates to gain an advantage. He struggles in traffic and his shot selection is not always optimal (40% on 4.3 attempts from 2-P). Despite his size, he is used mostly off the ball, moves well, and has shown he is not a primary playmaker (0.7 assists on average last season). He contributes as a secondary ball-handler and shows decent decision-making, evidenced by a low turnover rate (1.1 per game). He’s capable of impacting clutch moments; in head-to-head finishes, he takes responsibility, and at the free throw line, he’s money in the bank (94.5% on 3.6 attempts).

DEFENSIVE PHASE

Atin Wright brings consistent effort on the defensive end. He can ensure good pressure on the perimeter, showing solid anticipation and active hands (1 steal per game during his NCAA career). His physical frame helps him absorb contact and hold his ground on screens, but his size limits him from making an effective impact. While he’s not a lockdown defender, lacking elite lateral quickness, his basketball IQ enables him to navigate doubling schemes and contest passing lanes. He is not disciplined and can have lapses in focus, but if he gets into an offensive rhythm, he increases his court awareness and hustle even on the defensive end.

IMPROVED AREAS

Despite his impressive shooting percentages, Atin Wright needs to improve his shot selection inside the arc, where he struggles to convert at a high rate. Adding more tools to attack the rim without relying solely on screens would enhance his offensive versatility. Defensively, his size and lateral quickness limit his ability to contain more athletic guards, and he must work on maintaining focus and discipline off the ball. Becoming more active and consistent on both ends, especially when not involved offensively, would strengthen his value as a two-way contributor at the pro level. He can immediately guarantee scoring ability in a mid to low level European league.
