INTRODUCTION

Langdon Hatton began his collegiate career at William & Mary, becoming one of the top freshmen in the CAA. He transferred to Bellarmine, where he was part of the rotation before showcasing significant growth in his junior season, becoming the team’s leading rebounder and shot blocker. These standout performances earned him the attention of the Hoosiers, where he moved for his final season. He is one of the backups to Oumar Ballo, providing depth in the frontcourt, and even with limited minutes, he played a key role in the victory against Winthrop. With the starter injured, he dominated the paint with 11 rebounds (6 offensive) and 3 blocks in the hard-fought win. He received Academic All-ASUN and CSC Academic All-District honors, demonstrating his commitment to academics as well.

PHYSICAL

Langdon Hatton possesses a solid size for a center. His frame allows him to establish position in the post and compete effectively on the boards. While not exceptionally explosive or vertical, he exhibits solid mobility for his size, enabling him to navigate the court efficiently. He has good body control, adequate footwork, and his physicality aids in absorbing contact. However, enhancing his lateral quickness and overall athleticism would further benefit his defensive versatility, especially when guarding more agile opponents.

OFFENSIVE PHASE

Langdon Hatton is an efficient player around the rim with a soft touch and emerging perimeter skills. His mobility allows him to move well off the ball, but he effectively utilizes pick-and-roll situations, often initiating plays from the perimeter and driving to the basket. He can attack from the post thanks to good footwork and the ability to absorb contact. During his junior year at Bellarmine, he shot 33.3% (on 1.5 attempts) from beyond the arc, indicating a developing stretch-five capability. Notably, 68.2% of his field goal attempts came either at the rim or from three-point range, showcasing his adaptability in modern offensive schemes. While he has shown playmaking and situational reading skills, he needs to manage his handling better and take initiatives off the dribble that can lead to defensive doubles and turnovers. Overall, he is a potential two-way player even though at Indiana he played mostly inside.

DEFENSIVE PHASE

Langdon Hatton provides a solid presence in the paint. Active on the boards, he averaged 7.1 rebounds per game, ranking sixth in the ASUN conference in his junior season. While he is a decent rim protector (0.8 blocks per game and set a Bellarmine single-season record), he lacks the verticality and timing of specialists. His size allows him to alter shots effectively. However, his limited lateral agility would enhance his ability to defend against quicker forwards and guards in mismatch situations on the perimeter. Overall, he is a player who uses strength to hold position and occupy space in the paint.

IMPROVED AREAS

Langdon Hatton should focus on improving his lateral quickness and defensive agility, which currently limit his ability to switch onto faster players or contain actions beyond the paint. Enhancing his vertical explosiveness would also increase his rim protection effectiveness and ability to finish above the rim. Offensively, refining his handle and decision-making under pressure will be key, especially when facing aggressive closeouts or defensive doubles. While his shooting touch and IQ suggest a potential stretch-five role, consistency from three-point range and faster reads in short roll situations will determine his long-term role at the pro level. Overall, he could be an important fit for a team in a mid-low level European league for his rookie season.
