INTRODUCTION
Puff Johnson is a left hand forward from Penn State, and the brother of Cam Johnson, an NBA player for the Brooklyn Nets. He was recruited as a four-star prospect by UNC, where he spent 3 seasons with only 2 starts. For his first senior season, he decided to transfer to Penn State (where he will stay through 2025).
Johnson is still a developing player who has not yet fully realized his potential. Currently, he bases his game on athleticism, with dunks and drives to the basket, as well as energy plays (such as offensive rebounds – 1.0 per game). He shows little offensive initiative and seldom has the ball in his hands (0.1 turnovers per game) to create his own shot. He finished the season with 7.3 points in 19.6 minutes of play. Johnson is gradually building an acceptable three-point shot (over the years: 11.1% – 23.1% – 28.3% – 33.3% on 2.6 attempts per game). However, he is not a great ball handler or passer (0.2 assists per game).
Defensively, he is a good player thanks to his athleticism and dynamism, though he can still develop more aggressiveness and physicality (0.7 steals per game). His final year in college will be crucial for showcasing the results of the work he has done so far.
