INTRODUCTION
Shereef Mitchell is a combo guard from Ohio. After four years at Creighton (including one redshirt year) in a supporting role (max 3.5 points in about 15 minutes per game), he transferred to Ohio, where he became a key player (13.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 29.9 minutes per game). Mitchell plays both guard positions and can lead the team efficiently. Although not often the primary ball handler (hence only 2.4 assists per game), he has the skills to be the starting point guard. He has a decent three-point shot (32.7% on 3.3 attempts) and strong defensive skills. Despite an average physique, which can sometimes be a disadvantage in defensive switches, he excels at drawing charges. He makes simple plays without overdoing it and maintains a good playmaking ability with relatively few turnovers (1.4) and the same number of steals (1.4). He isn’t very fast but has a good first step, allowing him to create opportunities to attack the paint, often finishing with a floater. Sometimes he struggles with foul trouble. After four years at Creighton with limited minutes, he adapted well as a starter. He needs to improve his resilience during tough games and not get discouraged.
