INTRODUCTION

Chase Hunter is an oversized point/combo guard from Clemson. He spent his entire college career at Clemson (5 years), including a redshirt freshman year due to a foot injury. During his junior and senior years, he took on the leadership role of the team.

Regarding his characteristics, Hunter has excellent playmaking skills. Despite averaging only 3.2 assists, he knows how to manage the offensive pace and create a good offensive flow. However, his three-point shooting is inconsistent (31% on 4.2 attempts per game, although in previous seasons he shot a decent 34.5% and 35.6%). He is an all-around player with a solid defensive phase. He has decent athleticism and the ability to absorb contact to finish at the rim, thanks to his 193 cm height. Offensively, he is mainly dangerous with the ball in his hands, though he lacks an explosive first step – he relies on hesitation and ball-handling to create an advantage. He prefers attacking with a screen or gaining speed in one-on-one situations. Within the same game, he can alternate between on-fire moments and periods where he seems disengaged from the game.

He played at a very high level during the 2024 March Madness, being named to the 2024 NCAA All-West Region Team and averaging 17.8 points (but 25% from three), 5.8 assists, and 4 rebounds per game.
