INTRODUCTION

Nae’Qwan Tomlin is a forward (but can easly also play as a dynamic center) from Memphis. He started playing basketball only after high school. Before arriving in the NCAA, he played at Monroe Community College and Chipola College for a total of 3 years. He then transferred to Kansas State, where he was one of the protagonists of the Wildcats’ March Madness. However, during his second year at Kansas State, he ended up off the team following an arrest for disorderly conduct. He transferred mid-year to Memphis, where he averaged 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game.

Offensively, Tomlin is an energetic player with NBA-level athleticism. Over the years, he has also developed a reliable three-point shot (39.6%). He knows how to “hide” on the baseline to try to grab an offensive rebound (2.3 per game) or “steal” a basket. A couple of areas he still needs to improve on are developing a more effective low post game and not being a great passer (0.7 assists per game).

Defensively, he can guard positions 1 through 5 without too many problems; he can defend both in the post and on the arc. He is also a vertical player, averaging 1.1 blocks per game.

Tomlin is improving visibly, game after game. Obviously, given his limited experience on the basketball court, he is still raw in certain aspects of the game, such as timing and blocking angles in pick and rolls.

Probably one of the best talents in terms of athleticism and intensity coming out of college.
