INTRODUCTION: Noel Coleman is a combo guard coming out of Hawai’i, where he spent 4 seasons after playing his freshman year at college with the San Diego Toreros. His father is Nigerian and his mother is Belgian; he was born in Belgium and is already involved in youth national teams (he therefore holds a Belgian passport).
Coleman is a guard (second handler, but can also play point guard) with great talent, but he still needs to find consistency throughout the season (in 34 games: 6 times with over 20 points and 3 times with 0 points scored). He is primarily a scorer (13.6 points per game), lacking a great vision of the game, although he can effectively use the pick and roll both for his own scoring and to find the roller with an assist. He has good ball-handling skills (only 1.5 turnovers per game in 32.6 minutes) and is an average defender (1.2 steals per game). He’s a good three-point shooter (35% from the arc on 5.3 attempts per game) both in catch and shoot situations and off the dribble. In his two senior seasons at Hawai’i, he didn’t fully show the progress that his junior season had promised.
Despite this, being one of the top European scorers in Division I, Coleman is still considered ready for the leap to the pros; he could be an important piece in Europe and for the Belgian national team.
