INTRODUCTION
Jamal Shead is a player with an extraordinary competitive energy and his body also supports him in this way of playing. One of the best defenders in Division I in both 1v1 and a team system. In 2023 he won the AAC’s DPOY award. The explosiveness in his movements helps him contain many players defensively. Precisely because of these characteristics he is often able to anticipate his opponent’s moves. However, his physique does not help him inside the area and in the event of very obvious mismatches. Despite this he still manages to be a factor in the team’s defense. His attack to the rim needs reviewing, he dunks easily and spectacularly but almost never manages to get many free throws, and for a player of this type it is a shame not to have this quality in his skill repertoire. He shown consistent improvement in his three-point shooting throughout his NCAA career. He went from 12.5% in his Frehsman year to 34% in his senior year. As a point guard, he doesn’t do too badly with almost 6 assists and only 2 turnovers per game on average.
