INTRODUCTION

Mustapha Amzil is a player who can play a good role in different game contexts, he can be used as a shooter to spread the court or for a low quintet that can run the field quickly. Good general mobility although potential to be evaluated. He was named to the A-10 All Rookie Team in 2021 and won Mountain West Sixth Man of the Year honors for both the Coaches and Media in the 2024 season.

PHYSICAL

Mustapha Amzil is a power forward with a very lean and slender body, long arms and decent foot mobility. Not equipped with a large muscle mass, he can have difficulty against pure centers even if he doesn’t disdain physical contact both near and far from the basket.

OFFENSIVE PHASE

Mustapha Amzil is trying to improve his 3-point shot in the last season, many more attempts with good percentages to be almost a center (33.1% on 3.2 attempts in his NCAA career). He can improve and has pretty good shooting mechanics. Even in the free throw he performs well with a realization percentage of around 70%. He is a player who prefers the set shot rather than attacking the rim, except in rebounding opportunities.

DEFENSIVE PHASE

Although he seems to be becoming a more external player, Mustapha Amzil never fails to give his contribution also in the defensive phase of the game. Under the basket he never gives up contact and in the last season he is recording good numbers both as pure rebounds and as a rim protector in defense of the area and the basket with the best numbers of his career also in blocks. In 1vs1 he proves to be quite agile and is able to withstand his opponents’ starts for more than one dribble.

IMPROVED AREAS

Mustapha Amzil already seems like a player at the peak of his potential, in his 5 seasons at college he has always been at a good level but without ever making a well-defined leap in quality to aspire to high-profile teams. Good international experience with the Finnish youth national team.
