POTENTIAL
INTRODUCTION
Igor Milicic Jr. is a forward (stretch four) with dual Croatian and Polish citizenship. After starting his career in Europe with Ulm, he began his college journey at Virginia, where he struggled with limited impact and playing time. He then transferred to Charlotte, where, over two seasons, he showcased his potential, finishing the 23/24 season with 12.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, earning a spot on the Third Team All-AAC. This performance secured him a call to Tennessee, where he will conclude his college career. He is already part of the Polish national team setup, having played in a few Olympic qualifying games.
PHYSICAL
Igor Milicic Jr. is a vertical and dynamic player. He has the measurements of a big man with long arms but primarily plays as a stretch four. He is still somewhat light, which can make him vulnerable to physical contact. Milicic boasts elite coordination for a player of his height.
OFFENSIVE PHASE
Currently, Igor Milicici Jr is predominantly a perimeter player whose offensive game relies on his three-point shooting (37.6% from beyond the arc). He is not an exceptional ball-handler or passer, although he averages 1.7 assists per game but also commits 2.0 turnovers. Due to his limitations in ball-handling, he sometimes struggles to attack off the dribble against inevitable defensive closeouts. He is a solid offensive rebounder (1.5 per game), aided by his long arms. His pick-and-roll game is still developing, as he is not yet very effective in the low post. However, he can finish with a fadeaway shot and demonstrates excellent coordination. Predictably, he excels in pick-and-pop situations.
DEFENSIVE PHASE
Defensively, Igor Milicic Jr. is an outstanding shot-blocker (1.1 per game), effective not only in the paint but also in help defense and one-on-one situations. Thanks to his dynamism, agility, and verticality, he is an excellent one-on-one defender with impressive lateral mobility for a player standing 6’10”. This allows him to handle defensive switches effectively. Even when beaten by an opponent, he remains disruptive by contesting shots effectively. In post defense, his long arms make him a factor, but physically stronger opponents can overpower him. Notably, he shows a strong tendency to immediately pressure the ball after a possession change, effectively disrupting opponents’ transition opportunities. He grabs plenty of defensive rebounds (7.0 per game), but he may struggle against more physical opponents, especially since he often defends on the perimeter and can find it challenging to recover proper positioning under the basket.
IMPROVED AREAS
To reach his full potential, Igor Milicic Jr. needs to develop a credible low-post game, which would make him a more complete player on offense. He can also work on improving his ball-handling skills. Overall, his rare combination of traits for a 6’10” player makes him a highly intriguing prospect.
The statistics reported in the scouting report refer to the 2023/2024 season, as at the time of publication, the 2024/2025 season does not yet have a significant number of games.
