INTRODUCTION

James Bishop IV is a point guard with a scoring-oriented profile and a clear perimeter shooting focus. In his final season at George Washington, he led his team in both scoring and assists. He averaged over 18 points and more than 4 assists per game. He was one of the most used players in the rotation and logged heavy minutes throughout the season. His role was primarily that of a lead guard and main offensive option.

James Bishop showed a clear step forward as a 3-P shooter. He improved from 30% in the 2022–23 season to 37% on 6 attempts per game. His shot volume and confidence from beyond the arc represent a key part of his offensive value. He can create separation off the dribble and generate pull-up attempts. However, his shot selection remains inconsistent. He tends to force difficult looks, especially late in possessions. His high-usage role also resulted in an elevated number of turnovers for a primary ball-handler.

Defensively, Bishop competes well against opposing point guards despite being slightly undersized for the position. He relies on positioning and effort rather than physical tools. He was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Third Team and was selected for the PIT tournament, where he averaged 10 points per game. Overall, James Bishop IV profiles as a scoring point guard with reliable perimeter shooting and lead-guard experience. Improving decision-making and possession management will be important for his transition to the professional level.
