INTRODUCTION
Coleman Hawkins is a center from Illinois, in his fourth season in college. Season after season and game after game, he is growing in many aspects of his game. He is a modern, dynamic big man who shoots well from beyond the arc but also has an inside dimension (although it can be improved).
Defensively, he has quick hands and is capable of bothering opposing big men (1.5 steals per game, with a maximum of 6 against Michigan), in addition to being a good rim-protector (1.1 per game). However, he can improve his defense in pick-and-roll situations; he is often too passive for a player with his dynamism. He can hold his own 1-on-1 against opposing guards. His eagerness to help teammates defensively can sometimes lead him to be out of position and at a disadvantage against the opposing big man. Average rebounder (6.1 per game).
Offensively, as mentioned, he is a modern big man who tends to play primarily on the perimeter (4.5 three-point attempts per game with 37.8% shooting), but he can also create with excellent passing (2.8 assists per game). He can be dangerous 1-on-1 from beyond the arc, but he needs to improve his inside game.
He is already a solid player, ready for professional basketball.
