INTRODUCTION

Robert Ford III is a point guard from Montana State. He spent his first two years of college at Clackamas CC before transferring to Idaho State (NCAA), where he spent two seasons. He then moved on to Montana State. After an initial transitional season coming off the bench, he truly came into his own in his final season, becoming the focal point of Montana State and leading his team to the NCAA Tournament. He had an incredible First Four performance, scoring 26 points, 4 assists, and 6 rebounds, shooting 6/8 from beyond the arc.

Robert Ford is an exceptional rebounder (7.6 per game) considering his height (183cm), thanks to his great leaping ability and positioning. His main characteristic is his ability to fight for offensive rebounds, often causing problems for opposing rebounders and putting pressure on the ball handler.
Offensively, he has an excellent three-point shot (44% on 5.5 attempts per game), especially utilizing step-back moves to create separation from defenders, as he doesn’t have the advantage of height. He’s not an outstanding playmaker (only 3 assists), and he sometimes turns the ball over too much (2.3 per game), although he handles a considerable number of possessions. He’s proficient in one-on-one situations, capable of attacking the rim with fakes and great leaping ability to throw off opposing defenders, and he handles physical contact well.

Defensively, in Montana State’s system, his physical limitations are not highlighted (although he could struggle in certain defensive situations). He has quick hands and is an elite stealer (2.9 per game).
