INTRODUCTION
Branden Carlson is a versatile big man, also capable of playing as a power forward, in his final season with the Utah Utes. Carlson, a Utah native, has been named First-team All-Pac-12 in 2023 and Second-team All-Pac-12 in 2022. Moreover, he has become the first player in PAC-12 history to achieve 1500 points, 700 rebounds, 200 blocks, and 100 assists – a testament to his completeness, maturity, and versatility as a player.
With long arms and a slender physique, Carlson is a dynamic and rapid center. This makes him a proficient rim-protector (1.4 per game) and a good (though not exceptional) rebounder (7.0 per game), but he may struggle defensively against bigger opponents.
Offensively, he proves to be tactically valuable, possessing a good three-point shot (33.9%) and excelling in pick & pop plays with quick movements. In post-up situations, he has a deadly hook shot and hard-to-stop mid-range shot, coupled with solid passing skills (2.0 assists per game).
