POTENTIAL
INTRODUCTION
Tre Dinkins began his career at the JuCo level, being named to the Third-Team All American in 2022. He transferred to Canisius after a season in rotation, becoming a key player in the starting five, finishing as the top scorer and the second-best assist man for the Golden Griffins. During his junior season, he earned All-MAAC Third Team honors. For his senior season, he went to Duquesne to replace Dae Dae Grant and partially Jimmy Clark, who concluded his NCAA career with the Atlantic-10 title and the Conference Tournament MVP award. Not a simple legacy, Dinkins led the team in points, minutes, and was the second-best assist man. For his graduate season, he transferred to George Washington.
PHYSICAL
Tre Dinkins has a well-sculpted upper body; his size and strength allow him to absorb contact well and give him the strength to handle physical matchups. He combines decent lateral quickness with above-average agility, making him effective in navigating through different game setups. While not an elite athlete, his explosiveness is sufficient to attack the rim and finish in traffic. He is not a particularly reactive or energetic player, but he is still capable of providing a solid presence on the court.
OFFENSIVE PHASE
Tre Dinkins is a versatile scorer with a very deep shooting range that allows him to be a threat from beyond the three-point arc (37.9% on 6.3 attempts). He can create his own shot, using a combination of ball-handling and change-of-pace moves to penetrate defenses or create space for a step-back finish. These skills make him a reliable scorer in isolation when needed. In addition, he can manage pick-and-roll situations not only as a pull-up shooter but by involving teammates (3.1 assists), particularly with the roller at the rim. However, his shot selection can occasionally be questionable (39.6% from the field in his NCAA career), leading to inefficiency during high-pressure moments. He could improve his vision and decision-making to elevate his impact as a facilitator and limit turnovers (1.8 per game).
DEFENSIVE PHASE
Tre Dinkins demonstrates good on-ball pressure and active hands, as his strength allows him to stay in front of physical guards. However, his lateral quickness is only average, which sometimes leaves him vulnerable against faster guards. Additionally, team defense rotations are another area where he can grow, particularly in terms of rotating and closing out on shooters. Overall, his size could help him guard multiple opponents, but his defensive discipline is lacking for him to have an impact.
IMPROVED AREAS
Tre Dinkins must refine his decision-making on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he needs to improve his shot selection and balance scoring with playmaking. Defensively, enhanced lateral quickness and greater discipline will help him become a more complete player. In the professional landscape, Dinkins projects as a scoring combo guard who could excel in a role as a spark plug off the bench. Development in playmaking and defensive consistency, he could carve out a spot in mid-level European leagues.
