INTRODUCTION
Carlos Marshall Jr. is a wing from Santa Clara. He is a experienced player, thanks to his extensive college career. He began his collegiate career in 2017 at Southwest Tennessee (Community College), then moved to Tennessee State (NCAA) in 2019, and finally to Santa Clara in 2022 for his last two college seasons. He was also named to the 2023-24 WCC Men’s Basketball All-Academic Team for his academic achievements.
Carlos Marshall is a forward with excellent three-point shooting ability: over the last 3 years in college, he shot 40.6%, 42.9%, and 42.4% from 3-P (on 4.6 attempts in 2023/24). Additionally, offensively, he can create a good shot off the dribble, including from mid-range, creating spacing from defenders. He rarely attacks the rim and scores 13.2 points per game. He has improved his efficiency by reducing turnovers (from 2.4 in his early seasons to 1.9 in 2023/24).
Defensively, he can effectively guard at least 4 positions in 1-on-1 situations. However, he struggles with some reads and off-the-ball defense, occasionally losing track of his man (0.8 steals per game). He also contributes effectively on the boards with 4.4 rebounds per game. In his final season, he was not particularly consistent, alternating between excellent double-digit scoring games and some less impressive performances. He has already suffered a season-ending injury during his college career.
